Social Media for Academicians 

Preamable

Historically invention of new media - print media ( that created books and heralded university education), multimedia (that enabled rich representation and created e-learning) have altered and many times accentuated the process of academics. Social media is the latest in the list of enabling technology that is expected to transform education process forever. The potential of social media -its ability to overcome the traditional barriers of time, distance and even language that have always limited the richness and  reach of education is immense. This has made the web a new learning habitat. 

Session Objective and  Outline:

The session will aim to create 

• (1) awareness for academicians about social media (2) appreciation for its potential to contribute to academic process and (3) suggest tools and process to adopt into learning and teaching process.
• 3 reasons for academicians to consider social media as a regular resource and platform for learning and teaching process
• Tools for academicians and administrator 
• Examples of social media uses in  school,engineering and medical education 
• shares experience of real time teaching
